Issue:  Clarify future of Colleague UI

Recently, Ellucian released Colleague UI version 5, which no longer depends on MS Silverlight.  The Silverlight plug-in is the cause of our current browser issues with UI 4.  Colleague UI 5 is compatible with a broad range of mobile devices and browsers, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Edge, and Safari.  However, there are open questions about how UI 5 will integrate with important applications like Softdocs.  The IT Division is currently working with Softdocs to test their system with UI 5, and we will be working closely with a range of users in the coming months to make sure UI 5 functions as expected.  When a firm migration date is established, all users will be notified.

IT Service Advisory - 3/8/17

Issue:  Colleague UI no longer works in Firefox.  Yesterday, Mozilla released an update to Firefox (version 52) that discontinues support for Microsoft Silverlight, a browser plug-in that is necessary to the function of Colleague UI. Today, many users automatically received that Firefox update and, as a result, UI no longer functions.

Tonight, the IT Division will distribute a fix for this issue to workstations located on our Central Campus network.  If the fix fails to install on your workstation, or if you are located anywhere but our Central or Ft. Hood campuses, please follow these instructions for manually updating Firefox to resolve the Silverlight plug-in issue (located under our Ease of Use section): http://ctcfacstaff.ctcd.edu/faculty-staff/information-technology/tech-tips/. You may also choose to use Internet Explorer, which is unaffected.
